Victorious Owls increase football betting profits

A successful weekend yet again for our Saturday Seven with 4 winning bets out of 7 (Sheff Wed W14/5, Sheff Utd W6/5, Bournemouth W21/20 and Oldham W11/8) , giving an overall profit for our free football tips of 3.42pts.

Disappointingly, of the three losing bets, two sides (Manchester City and Darlington) were leading 2-0 before surrendering their advantage to lose 3-2, otherwise our profits would have been even greater.

Overall stats for the Goldcall Saturday Seven now stand 4 profitable weeks out of 5, 35 bets advised, 22 winners (63% strike rate) for a total profit of 15.57pts.

The Goldcall Saturday Seven - Week 5

Hold on to your hats! It's the penultimate week of the domestic football season and we're looking to improve on last weekend's showing by adding to the 12.15pts profit achieved over the last four weeks.

We stake a single point on each bet. (Notes: 1=Home win, 2=Away win, X=draw. Best prices taken from odds.goldcall.com at 10:00am on 25/04/08 - click the link under the odds to find the best current available price.)

PREM Manchester City v Fulham 1 @ 9/10 [Centrebet, VC]
Click here for current best available odds
We're looking to City, who we think will extend their winning streak to three consecutive games and effectively relegate Fulham in the process.

CHAMP Leicester v Sheff Wed 2 @ 14/5 [Centrebet]
Click here for current best available odds
The Owls have been the draw specialists in recent weeks - a run of form that has seen them unable to pull away from the relegation zone. This match really could decide the last relegation place from the Championship - and we think Wednesday have just enough to pull themselves clear.

CHAMP Sheff Utd v Bristol City 1 @ 6/5 [Centrebet], 11/10 [Gen]
Click here for current best available odds
The Robins have lost momentum at a crucial time while the Blades have finally found the form many expected them to produce from the start of the season. We expect the woes to continue for Gary Johnson's City.

LGE 1 Bournemouth v Crewe 1 @ 21/20 [Totesport], Evs [Gen]
Click here for current best available odds
Two more sides scrapping for survival and showing decent runs of form. The fact that Bournemouth are odds against at home with a run of five consecutive wins under their belts tips them in our favour.

LGE 1 Oldham v Cheltenham 1 @ 11/8 [VC]
Click here for current best available odds
The annual struggle against relegation is on again for Cheltenham, while Oldham's season is over. We think this is one of those games where the pressure will be too much for the side with something at stake and that Oldham will snatch the points.

LGE 2 Darlington v Dagenham 1 @ 10/11 [BlSq, Coral]
Click here for current best available odds
The Daggers are sliding perilously close to returning back to the Conference after only one season in the league, while the Quakers have been on a miserable run of form too. When all is said and done, Darlington should have enough about them to clinch the victory here.

LGE 2 Wrexham v Accrington 1 @ 13/10 [PP]
Click here for current best available odds
It's all over for Wrexham - midweek defeat to Hereford condemning them to the Conference next season. We expect them to go out with a bang in their last home game and defeat Accrington.

Profits in full flow for Tennis Betting members

Last week saw further success for members of Goldcall's dedicated Tennis Betting Service as David Ferrer WON 5/1 in the Valencia Open. Added to this, three match bet winners pushed profits for 2008 even higher.

So far this season just under £3,000 has been amassed from 18 shrewdly judged bets (11 winners = 61% strike rate).

"It's a selective service. Quality not quantity. Naturally we're pleased with the start to the year but there's a long way still to go ... and more profits still to be had! This is our favourite time of the year and we've a few very nice bets lined up," said Matthew Walton, head of the service and regular tennis columnist on betting.betfair.com/tennis/.

We're now into the main part of the season, building up to the French Open and Wimbledon so if you want to be a part of the action then call 01625 583 300 for current rates of this limited membership service.

End-of-season jitters hits the Saturday 7...

A disappointing weekend for our free football betting tips, with 3 winners from our 7 selections (WBA, Rochdale and Wycombe), meaning a small loss on the day of 1.62pts.

Our overall record now stands at 28 bets advised, 18 winners for a total profit of 12.15pts. Two weeks of the season remain, so we'll be looking to get back on the winning trail this coming weekend. Don't forget to check back on Friday for this weekend's selections.

The Goldcall Saturday Seven - Week 4

Coming to you live from Goldcall HQ, it's the Goldcall Saturday Seven - our free tips for the weekend football action. We've already built an encouraging profit over the last three weeks (21 bets, 15 winners, 13.77pts profit), and we'll be looking to add to that figure over the weekend with the free betting advice below.
We stake a single point on each bet. (Notes: 1=Home win, 2=Away win, X=draw. Best prices taken from odds.goldcall.com at 3:00pm on 17/04/08 - click the link under the odds to find the best current available price.)

PREM Middlebrough v Bolton X @ 9/4 Generally
A tough one to call when we look at Boro's Jekyll & Hyde season and Bolton's struggle to avoid the drop. The Teesiders have nothing to play for which could be to their advantage but Gary Megson's side showed enough tenacity against West Ham last week to suggest they may have got over their previous run of defeats. A point won't really help Bolton, but that's what we think they'll get!

PREM Wigan v Spurs 2 @ 7/4 VC
OK, so Spurs aren't exactly the form side in the Premier League at the moment - but at nearly 2/1 to win at the JJB they look very good value.

CHAMP Norwich v WBA 2 @ 6/5 Coral (11/10 Generally)
The Baggies have quickly overcome their FA Cup semi-final disappointment and seem the side most capable of grasping the nettle in the chase for the Championship title. Three points at Carrow Road will see them within touching distance of playing in the Premier League next season.

CHAMP Southampton v Burnley 1 @ Evs BetDirect, SJ
The Saints could have turned their season around just in time. A win over promotion hopefuls Bristol City and an away draw at Charlton suggest they have enough about them to avoid the drop into League One. Burnley's season ended last week with home defeat against Sheffield United so we're predicting Southampton will move 3 points nearer safety.

LGE 1 Carlisle v Southend 1 @ Evs VC (10/11 Generally)
Carlisle's home form is the best in the division and there is something to be said for the fact that teams having to travel long distances are weary from the trip and don't perform. Southend's journey to Cumbria is longer than most, and, coupled with Carlisle's home form and their desire to clinch automatic promotion this looks a road to nowhere for the Shrimpers.

LGE 2 Rochdale v Morecambe 1 @ 13/20 Centrebet
Even optimistic Dale fans were expecting their promotion challenge to falter when it came to playing their copious amount of games in hand. They've gone on to win them all and are the form side of the division. Morecambe's first season in the football league has been a success but they have nothing to play for now, and we expect a confident home win here.

LGE 2 Wycombe v Chester 1 @ 8/15 Coral, PP
Two good results in their last two games (a draw away at MK Dons and an away win at Grimsby) suggests Wycombe will comfortably make the play-offs - our prediction is that they'll be too good for struggling Chester.

Goldcall's Saturday Seven celebrates most profitable week yet!

The Goldcall Saturday Seven bandwagon keeps rolling along, as for the third consecutive week our 7 free tips yielded 5 winners (Man City W13/5, Sheffield Utd W2/1, Crystal Palace W4/7, Leeds W11/10 and Notts Co W6/5), giving us a total profit for the week of 5.47pts and an overall profit of 13.77pts.

This weeks losing bets (Wolves & Southend) both drew - a case of close but no cigar for those of us that placed the bets in an accumulator.

Don't forget to check back on Friday for the next Goldcall Saturday Seven.

The Goldcall Saturday Seven - Week 3

It's almost the weekend and that means more free betting tips on the weekend football from Goldcall.

We're really at the business end of the season, where almost every game seems to have a bearing on promotion or relegation issues. It makes our bets a little trickier to advise: will a side looking unbeatable and on a roll suddenly get the jitters? How come a team who couldn't buy a win over the last few months suddenly look like world beaters when their resolve is called upon? Our Saturday Seven attempts to tiptoe around the potential banana skins whilst also looking for speculative value bets (last two weeks have seen us gain 8.3pts profit).

We stake a single point on each bet. (Notes: 1=Home win, 2=Away win, X=draw. Best prices taken from odds.goldcall.com at 9:30 on 11/04/08 - click the link under the odds to find the best current price.)

PREM Sunderland v Man City 2 @ 13/5 [VC]
City's lack of goals this season has been their downfall - they're averaging less than a goal a game away from home - but the pressure's off Sunderland after 3 straight wins and there is undoubted value in backing City to steal the points.

CHAMP Bristol City v Wolves 2 @ 11/5 [BetDirect, Better, SJ]
We said last week that the Robins weren't as good as their league position suggested and they promptly lost to Southampton. Wolves can enhance their own play-off prospects with a win, and put a major dent in City's automatic promotion hopes.

CHAMP Burnley v Sheffield Utd 2 @ 2/1 [CentreBet, ToteSport]
Both these sides can still mathematically reach the play-offs although the losers of this one are probably out of the shake-up completely. We fancy the Blades to take the points, effectively finishing Burnley's season in the process.

CHAMP Crystal Palace v Scunthorpe 1 @ 4/7 [Generally]
Palace seem a much tougher prospect under Neil Warnock - expect them to condemn Scunthorpe to relegation while enhancing their own play-off propects.

LGE 1 Leeds v Carlisle 1 @ 11/10 [BetFred, Boyles, ToteSport]
The game of the day in League One - Leeds are finding form under Gary McCallister and we reckon Carlisle will have to wait a while to confirm their promotion.

LGE 1 Southend v Northampton 1 @ 8/11 [Generally]
Southend are League One's form side and a win here will cement their play-off spot. Our opinion is that they'll manage all three points against the Cobblers, who have nothing at stake.

LGE 2 Notts Co v Accrington 1 @ 6/5 [Generally]
The Magpies are desperate for a win as they attempt to drag themselves clear of the relegation places. Accrington are safe - so we've plumped for a home victory.

The Goldcall Saturday Seven - Week 2

It's time for the second edition of Goldcall's Saturday Seven - and we're looking to build on last week's winning start with another profitable set of selections for this week's football.

Remember: we stake a single point on each bet, with another single point placed in an accumulator. (Notes: 1=Home win, 2=Away win, X=draw. Best prices taken from Oddschecker at 11:20 on 04/04/08)

FA CUP West Brom v Portsmouth (Neutral venue) - Portsmouth in normal time @ 10/11 [PP, Hills]
Could Portsmouth's name be on the cup? They'll never have a better chance and we predict the Baggies will be left to concentrate on gaining promotion back to the Premiership.

PREM Fulham v Sunderland 2 @ 9/4 [VC]
A speculative bet given Sunderland's poor away form, but they've just strung together back-to-back wins, and this game could seal Fulham's relegation.

CHAMP Sheffield United v Leicester City 1 @ 21/20 [ToteSport]
The Blades have been really disappointing this year, but then Leicester have been even worse, so we're tipping Kevin Blackwell's side to take the 3 points.

CHAMP Southampton v Bristol City X @ 23/10 [Bet365, ToteSport]
Two sides who aren't quite as bad (Southampton) or as good (Bristol City) as their respective league positions suggest. In a game that could go either way, the draw seems the value bet.

LGE 1 Nottm Forest v Cheltenham 1 @ 8/13 [PP, SkyBet, Coral]
May seem an obvious bet, but Forest blow hot and cold and this certainly isn't a home banker. Victory here will seem them limp towards confirming their play-off spot.

LGE 2 Rochdale v Grimsby 1 @ 10/11 [Generally]
Dale's home form has been their Achilles heel this season, but three staight wins at Spotland have seen them cement their place in the play-offs and Grimsby will have a post-JPT hangover to contend with too.

LGE 2 Rotherham v Brentford 1 @ 11/8 [SkyBet]
The Millers have had a miserable couple of months and seem bereft of confidence. But they still have some decent players at this level and there's value to be had in their mid-table clash with Brentford.

Winning start for Goldcall's Saturday Seven

5 winners from our 7 advices at the weekend: Portsmouth W4/5, Leicester W10/11, Macclesfield W6/5, Notts Co/Mansfield Draw W12/5 and Rangers W5/4 producing a total profit of 4.56pts. Our remaining bets saw Hull comfortably beat Watford while Derby only drew with Fulham to seal their relegation.
